After a record year in 2023, sales of equipment used in construction produced in Germany fell in 2024 by 21% in real terms, and 20% in nominal terms. The biggest decline was in construction equipment, down 26%, followed by earthmoving equipment, down 23%, and road construction equipment, down 14%. One of the main reasons for this is that domestic sales slumped by 31%, the biggest decline since 2009. The European market also saw sales fall by more than 20%. The gloomy global outlook meant that exports outside Europe were unable to improve the picture.
