bauma Munich is a trade fair with a capital ‘M’ for most sectors in the construction and civil engineering industry and has been for decades. The show will be held from 7 to 13 April in the Bavarian capital Munich. For the sectors covered by PDi Magazine, the fair has long been the given meeting place. Every three years, players from all over the world have the opportunity to meet on the global stage, with no other international fair being able to match this, making bauma unique.

 

Find manufacturers easily

For the diamond tools, drilling equipment, machines for treating concrete surfaces, remediation, construction vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, demolition robots, hydrodemolition robots and more product sectors, Hall A1 is the given meeting place. Here you will find all the major players in the industry from near and far. Heavy demolition equipment, such as concrete shears, scrap shears, pulverisers, sorting buckets and the carriers themselves, are a little more spread over the 18 different halls and in the gigantic outdoor area. Here you will also find crushing buckets, milling cutters, mobile recycling crushers and screens and much more.

To make it easy for you to navigate the entire exhibition area, we have compiled a list of selected manufacturers in the product areas PDi readers are interested in. If you intend to visit the exhibition in Munich, it is a good idea to prepare your visit carefully. To go through the entire exhibition thoroughly, you actually need seven full exhibition days, which is the length of the exhibition. But no visitor is interested in all product areas, so careful planning is necessary to navigate through the many halls and the outdoor area. We believe that our list of selected exhibitors is a good tool to help see where the manufacturers of interest are located. 

Those who intend to visit bauma this year should have booked accommodation long ago so as not to end up too far away and enjoy reasonable prices. If a booking is now required, then our advice is to do it immediately. It is still possible to get fairly reasonable prices with a travel time of between one and two hours from Munich. However, it is not uncommon to end up in Austria! We advise that where possible, try to book in an area with a train connection to Munich. The queues to the fair are often very long and can take hours. It should be added that it is often difficult to find a parking space near the fair if you are not there very early.

 

Big numbers

More than 3,800 companies are exhibiting at this year’s fair. This is an increase of just over 150 companies compared to the 2022 fair. The interior area of the 18 halls in total measures 200,000m2. To this should be added the outdoor area, which measures 414,000m2. It is estimated that the number of visitors will reach nearly 500,000 people from over 200 countries. To facilitate transport between the halls and in the outdoor area, there is an automated walkway one floor up between the halls that runs quickly and smoothly. The outdoor area is served by free visitor trains. You can also take a rickshaw, but you have to pay for its use. But anyone looking for manufacturers of diamond tools, drilling equipment and other related items, will be able to find everything of interest in Hall A1.

 

IACDS Diamond Award

At each bauma, the international trade organisation IACDS (International Association for Concrete Drillers & Sawers) arranges its annual meeting, networking event and the awarding of the IACDS Diamond Award. This has become a tradition and will be held on 10 April  at 3:00PM in meeting room A31. The meeting room is located on the second floor near the west entrance. Information about the exact location of the meeting room is easiest to obtain from the information desk at the west entrance. The annual meeting starts at 3:00PM and is intended for IACDS members, while the network event is open to everyone and starts at 4:00PM. At 5:00PM the presentation of the IACDS Diamond Awards will be held. In the evening, the informal dinner in Munich will be held. The location will be announced during the show.

 

bauma is still important

2025 may face adverse economic conditions around the world and certainly an uncertain world situation, but this year’s bauma looks very promising. There has been, and is quite a lot of talk, that the era of mega fairs will soon be over, simply because it costs far too much to both exhibit and visit. Both manufacturers and contractors are increasingly preferring the small, niche trade fairs within their respective product segments. But despite this, the bauma trade fair will probably live on for a long time. If you want to visit PDi Magazine, we will be exhibiting in Hall A1, Stand 136, right next to Husqvarna and Tyrolit.
