New diamond tools for every application

Published 22/12, 2023 at 15:41

As the year is winding down, the time has come to sum up some of its results. After almost two years of an ongoing standoff, the global economy is beginning to feel negative effects. A recession is showing signs of setting in, and the outlook for the upcoming year looks rather bleak. Still, we at PDi are hoping for the best. Below is a report by Andrei Bushmarin on the latest innovations in the diamond tool industry.

Ashine launches new range of polishing pads

The most challenging part in concrete polishing applications is not the quality of gloss, but the scratch pattern. Sometimes when users polish a floor up to 400#, it is frustrating to see the scratches on the floor. To make the polishing work easier, China based grinding and polishing specialist Ashine Diamond Tools has developed new resin diamond technology. Following a three year research and development period, Ashine came up with the G.3 ceramic polishing pads for metal-resin transition. As rigorous tests have proved, the new G.3 pads 50# easily remove scratches left by a 16# metal diamond disc.

Italdiamant – an allrounder in diamond tools

Italy based Italdiamant has been manufacturing diamond tools for concrete and stone cutting applications since 1976. The company exports over 80% of its output worldwide through a network of branches and sales offices in Europe, the USA, Asia and the Middle East. The manufacturer’s ‘Fighter SP’ range of diamond blades is suitable for cutting a wide variety of construction and stone materials including reinforced concrete, Poroton, fired bricks, granite, clinker etc. The blades come equipped with laser welded 9/10mm segments for a longer service life. The ‘Turbo Speed’ series feature 2.6mm thick segments for high speed sawing. Diamond tools for cutting such materials as ceramics, porcelaingres and clinker also account for a sizeable share of Italdiamant’s turnover.

WORX+ features ‘Specialty’ range

Ten years ago, Australia based surface preparation specialist WORX+ launched a resin polishing pad called Specialty for walk behind machines. According to the company, it quickly became its biggest selling product. The Specialty is known for its ability to run at faster speeds, handle densifier, remove scratches extremely well, and bring out clarity in floors. Following up on its success, the Australian manufacturer has now released the brand new ‘Specialty Pro’ range. Its key features include a higher perimeter of diamond segments and bigger shape to increase surface performance, large intra segment grooves to enable highly efficient material evacuation and reduced space between resin pads for improved scratch patterns. The company recommends that the Specialty Pro is paired with WORX+’s new ‘Rip Change Pro’ - a rigid Velcro backer with very little flex to help achieve a more precise finish. Another highlight of the Specialty and Specialty Pro pads are their dust and densifier evacuation channels and a very large segment surface area. The Specialty range is very rigid, so it cuts flat helping to achieve that precise finish many contractors chase. For those who don’t want to cut very flat floors, the standard Specialty resins (not Pros) can be adapted to follow flooring contours by simply snapping them at each segment for more flexibility.

Husqvarna expands core bit and wall saw blade portfolios

Husqvarna Group, a Sweden based trendsetter in concrete sawing and drilling technologies, has added the new D 1600 series of core bits for rig based jobs to its drilling range. The D 1600 series is available in three models - the D 1610, the D 1620 and the D 1640 - which are compatible with a wide range of drill motors. The D 1610 model is particularly suitable for the ‘DM 1 Pace’ motor, allowing optimal use of its battery power. Also new from Husqvarna is the ‘Elite-Cut’ range of wall saw blades. The Elite-Cut W 1610 blade has been developed for wall saws with low motor output such as Husqvarna’s WS 220 HF. The Elite-Cut W 1620 is for mid-range saws and has been designed for sawing concrete with granite, quartz and limestone aggregates. The Elite-Cut W 1630 blade is optimised for high power saws, for example, Husqvarna’s WS 482 HF model.
