Made in Sweden since 1997
Published 2/4 at 14:14Since 1997, Pentruder products have been designed and manufactured in Sweden by Tractive AB, a family owned and operated company.
Pentruder began in 1997 but the Johnsen family has an even longer history in the concrete cutting business. Anders and Ingrid Johnsen have over 40 years of experience in the industry. Although Anders and Ingrid are still active in the business, everyday operations are run by the second generation, siblings Jenny Muda, Kristoffer Johnsen and Marie Peil. “We are so grateful that we get to do this together with our excellent staff, and that we can work in a different way than most larger companies. For example, we don’t work with fixed or detailed budgets, have very few KPI’s and no formal investment calculations. Our organisation and management system are all about trust,” states Marie Peil.
For Tractive, long term thinking is very important, and the main goal is not to maximise profits. The Pentruder mission is to bring machines to the market which will contribute to making the everyday life of the concrete cutting operator easier. Another goal is to design and build machines which are made to be durable and produce value for their owners for many years. “I think that many of our Pentruder customers would agree that we’ve succeeded with this,” says Marie. The management team at Tractive aims to send a strong signal to any worried Pentruder fans that there are a lot of goals for the future, and let’s say it might look a bit different to other companies.
Investing for growth
“Although times are turbulent, Tractive has a very solid financial situation,” says Jenny Muda. To meet the expected demand for the MDU3 as well as existing and other new Pentruder products, Tractive is investing heavily, and will at the end of 2025 finish a 4,400m2 large extension of its premises to make room for more manufacturing machinery, an assembly area and stock of parts and machines.
“Many customers might not know that we produce almost all parts inhouse, and that we have a huge number of parts on stock, both for the MDU3, but also for all our machines. It is very important to us that our customers get spare parts when needed. Our focus is on building machinery which will be productive for many years and make the workday of the operator easier,” says Elin Skantz, head of marketing at Tractive AB.
