Erkat´s product ranges, including the patent pending ‘V-shaped’ ‘V-Cutter’ range, ‘ER’ and ‘ERC’ transverse drum cutter ranges, ‘ERL’ axial drum cutter range, and ‘ADU’ auger drills range, are designed for such applications tunnelling, quarrying, demolition, trenching and so forth. The company´s drum cutters use a low energy method of impact for low noise and vibration.

Erkat states that its drum cutters provide such benefits as low vibration and low noise for use in sensitive urban or industrial areas making them ideal for areas where noise is an issue, and other attachment tools are not allowed. Furthermore, they deliver high production rates in soft rock excavation and demolition, whilst producing a small grain size small enough to be used for backfilling. Erkat believes that all these factors produce a high return on investment through accurate removal of material with no transportation and secondary crushing of broken material, with this high productivity delivering a high return on their investment.

Erkat states that its drum cutters have proven their versatility and reliability in challenging environments. Notable achievements include the ‘deepest bath taken’ by an ER drum cutter, reaching about 150m deep in offshore applications in Newfoundland, Canada, and operating at a job site in Tibet at an altitude of around 3,000m.
