Efficiency test in recycling of waste wood with Schaumaier Recycling Group
Published 12/9 at 14:16The efficiency and performance of the new ‘EuRec’ S-850 and the Arjes VZ 850 shredders processing waste wood were put to the test by the Schaumaier Recycling Group recently.
The Arjes VZ 850, powered by a 16l diesel engine with 565kW, is a two shaft shredder designed for the recycling industry. It was put in competition with the EuRec S-850, which is equipped with an 11l diesel engine with 315kW. At first glance, there seemed to be hardly any difference in throughput performance, as both machines reached about 50t/h. What initially appeared to be a neck and neck race ultimately unfolded as thanks to the advanced design within the shredding unit, it was a clear success for the new generation EuRec S-850.
With nearly identical throughput performance, the EuRec shredder produced significantly finer output material. About 30t of shredded wood waste could be processed to a final particle size between 0 and 100mm. In contrast, the VZ 850, with the same configuration and rotation speed of the shredding shafts, only achieved 25t in the 0 to 100mm range.
The result
The comparison test impressively demonstrated that the EuRec S-850, despite its smaller engine, delivers excellent performance while producing a finer end product. This makes the upcoming market launch of the EuRec S-850 appear particularly promising to Arjes which expressed its thanks to the Schaumaier Recycling Group which provided the company with the opportunity to conduct the test at its Biomassehof Chiemgau. The certified waste management company specialises in accepting waste wood of classes A-I to A-IV for thermal and material recycling. Since 2022, Schaumaier has been operating at its Chieming site with the VZ 850. In 2024, another Arjes twin shaft shredder, the ‘Ekomaxx’ 800, was acquired and is set to be used at various locations within the Schaumaier Group.
“The decision for the Arjes brand was the logical consequence of a long and intensive market analysis of various providers. Competent advice, an excellent price performance ratio at the time of purchase, and low maintenance costs during ongoing operations made the decision very easy for us. From our perspective, it’s a really good partnership,” says Claus Egger, managing director of the Schaumaier Group.
With 65 trucks, 210 employees, 150,000m2 of operating space at 9 locations, and over 225,000t of material handling per year, the Schaumaier Recycling Group is one of the major companies in southern Germany when it comes to the disposal and recycling of all types of materials.
