New wall sawing solution from Cedima
Making rectangular openings in brick or reinforced concrete walls is a task which sawing and drilling contractors face almost on a daily basis. Such openings are usually made with wall saws.
Due to the geometry of diamond blade, overcuts can occur in the opening’s corners that have to be patched up after the cutting. It may pose a real problem, if overcutting is off-limits due to structural integrity or esthetical requirements. So far, a common solution has been to drill holes in the corners of the opening and chisel the remaining material out. To eliminate this time-consuming and cumbersome operation, CEDIMA Diamantwerkzeug- und Maschinenbauges GmbH has developed a cutting technique which involves a combination of high-frequency electric chain saw and wall saw. This technique enables making clean cuts that require no further finishing. Once the opening is marked out, cuts are made in four corners with CKE-943 F4 chain saw. The new high-frequency electric chain saw has a cutting depth of 430 mm and is driven by a high-performance 9 kW motor. The saw’s bar and chain are made of the new components of ICS’s serial “Force 4”. With a weight of only 12.5 kg, it demonstrates an unprecedented weight/productivity ratio for this category of machines. This operator-friendly chain saw is designed for smooth and comfortable cutting. The water-cooled HF electric motor runs virtually without any vibration. Another advantage of the new CEDIMA machine is the complete absence of the noise and smell which fuel chain saws are notorious for. After the 90° cuts have been made in the corners of the opening, its sides are sawed with wall saw WS-290. The CKE-943 F4 and the WS-290 are both equipped with a high-frequency electric drive. Despite its small size, the wall saw is very powerful: driven by a 11 kW motor, it is designed to cut construction materials up to 430 mm deep with up to 1,000 mm blades. Given this, a 800 mm saw blade can be used without a precut. Both machines are operated with universal high-frequency control HF-16. The control automatically identifies type of the machine to provide optimal operating parameters. The wall saw is operated with a remote control set. The wall-sawing done, the concrete block is then removed leaving an opening whose clean edges need no patching-up or finishing. The combination of the CKE-943 F4 and the WS-290 allows for high daily output at a low level of tool consumption. With no cost involved for a second control, CEDIMA’s new wall sawing solution is also attractive from the investment point of view. www.cedima.com
